The Be-A-Pokémon board does not have many rules, in keeping with the free-form ideal of the setting. However, there are a few basic rules that we want members to follow when roleplaying.
1. No godmodding. Godmodding is manipulating events or characters, especially those of other players, to be unfairly favorable to your character. There can be a bit of grey area when it comes to godmodding in a free-form roleplay, and so such issues will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
2. Don't double post, triple post, etc. Post no more than once consecutively, and edit your post if necessary. While we still encourage you to refrain from double-posting, this rule will not be strictly in force for the time being.
3. Start your character at the lowest level of its evolutionary chain. For example: Charmander in the Charizard family, Electrike in the Manectric family. Players are not allowed to play as legendary or mythical Pokémon.
4A. As a player, you are allowed to make up and control NPCs as necessary. However, not all NPCs can be player-controlled. If they are in a major position of power (such as a leader of a large group of Pokémon), they must be played by a moderator. All legendaries and mythical Pokémon must be played by a moderator. If you aren't certain about whether or not an NPC needs to be played by a moderator, please PM a staff member and ask.
4B. If you want a moderator to play an NPC, whether it is one that must be played by a moderator or one that you would normally be allowed to play, we will be more than happy to oblige. Just send a message to either bobdat or Professor Munchlax.
5. Be reasonable when deciding when your Pokémon should evolve. A good rule of thumb is that your character will have accumulated enough experience to evolve after you make around 100-150 posts on the board (that's a lot, I know, but evolution takes a lot of work). A Pokémon does not have to evolve if you don't think it's time. if you're unsure, ask other players you're roleplaying with, or ask the moderators. Consider what a good time frame for evolution might be if this was an anime, or a movie. If your evolution seems ill-timed, or your character evolves in order to gain an unfair advantage over other players, moderators may ask you to reconsider.
6. You can post in multiple threads at once.
7. Play nice! This one's self-explanatory.
8. Please feel free to ask your staff members about any rules that may be unclear! We are online every day and are more than happy to help you.
