Calix was back in the forest quickly. He wanted to get as far away from others as he could before he started putting to use what he had just learned. He was determined to become the most powerful Pokémon in the school, even if it was still his first day.

Pokémon fanned out through the forest. Occasionally, the stragglers from the Dojo could be seen, but, for the most part, they were too deep in the woods to be encountered. Wild Pokémon also popped up, from time to time.

Calix decided he would start with one of the trees. He would see how quickly he could take it down with his scratch attack. Then he would try to take down another tree with less attacks, and more quickly. "Hmm, now I'll see the full extent of my power."

The first tree you attacked was about medium-sized, a perfect target. Your first attack ripped a large chunk of bark out of the tree, and a few bits of real wood, too. The second attack left several deep scratches, sending splinters out in all directions. You were forced to dodge quickly to avoid the flying pieces of wood.

Withe adrenaline now rushing through his body, Calix lashed out again and again. Each time he would dark to the side as splinters erupted from the trunk of the tree. Soon, the tree was almost completely ripped through, and it let out a big creak.

The tree fell away from you, collapsing with a 'thud'. Several of the forest Pokémon, particularly a trio of Pidgey and a Hoppip, squeal and bound away from the falling foliage. The other nearby students watch and nod, but, as soon as the tree hit the ground, they returned to their own practice.
